After 45 years of hiding his novel, Neil gave me ‘Har Megiddo’ to read. I was captivated from the opening paragraph, driven by Neil’s poetic style, easy reading, respect for the characters, and a really innovative story. I knew that I had to share his novel with the world.

George Orwell’s accurately predictive dystopian political novel ‘1984’ was published 35 years before the actual year 1984. Similarly, ‘Har Megiddo, with eerily accurate predictive events related to the newly arisen danger of antisemitism, was written 45 years ago. That alone, beyond the literary values in the book, would make ‘Har Megiddo’ important for readers.

Well-known author John Gardner was the first to read Neil’s manuscript “Har Megiddo’ in 1975. He then gave it to Michael who, after reading it, excitedly said to Neil: “This is a wonderful novel that I loved reading from the very first page. Your storytelling style with compelling dialogue and meticulous character development is deeply moving.” Michael was Neil’s editor until his death.

I just finished reading Neil’s book. It was very entertaining and really kept my attention. I like the idea of a Jewish Messiah. The ending was very good.
