About the practice

Fourteen years of back-office experience, put to work for owner-led businesses

We are eleven people in Olympia who spend our days inside other companies' operations — and we like it that way.

Our story

Krasner Advisory Group opened its doors in Olympia in 2012. Before that, our founder Robert Smith spent fourteen years running back-office functions for regional employers in construction, healthcare administration and distribution — the kind of companies where the finance team is three people and the operations manual lives in somebody's head.

The pattern was always the same. Businesses grew past the point where informal processes worked, but they were not large enough to justify a full-time operations director or a national consulting firm. They needed experienced help for a few weeks, not a permanent hire and not a hundred-page report.

That gap is the whole reason this practice exists. We are deliberately small, deliberately local, and deliberately practical. If a problem can be fixed in two days, we will tell you that rather than stretching it into a quarter.

What we believe

  • Write it down. Advice that lives only in a conversation disappears when people leave.
  • Independence matters. We accept no referral fees or commissions from software vendors, ever.
  • Fixed fees respect the client. Hourly billing rewards slowness. We quote the job, not the clock.
  • Small is a feature. The person who scopes your project is the person who delivers it.

Local, and staying that way

Thurston County first

More than half of our work is within a thirty-minute drive. We show up in person, which is still the fastest way to understand how a business really runs.

Pro-bono hours

Each adviser sets aside time annually for local non-profits that need bookkeeping structure but cannot fund a project.

Plain-language commitment

Every deliverable is written so a new team member can follow it. No acronym goes unexplained in our documents.
